Darren Gibson is a singer-songwriter based in Melbourne. Having played in a range of bands including Away From Now (2000-2007) and currently Lead Sketch Union, he has cut his teeth in the cut and thrust of the punk and hardcore scene that spawned many great acts of its time such as Mid Youth Crisis, Bodyjar and Blueline Medic. While coming from a background of melodic hardcore and punk driven rock, Darren explores a more sincere and emotive sound in his solo work. In late 2008 Darren teamed up with Donnie Dureau (Blueline Medic/Caustic Soda) and Jamie Hay (A Death in the Family/Fear Like Us) in a collaborative album titled Tyre Swans. A National tour was completed to great reviews and included live shows and marathon busking sessions on the streets of Australia. Recently he was invited to support Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music) and Tom Gabal (Against Me) on their Australian tour. Reviews were highly affirming and audiences were very complimentary in accepting Darren onto the stage. As a result of the shows Darren and Chuck will be releasing a split seven inch in the near future. Darren also aims to have a debut release out later this year.
