Two of Melbourne’s best up and coming bands join forces for some party times on the ‘Woah Nelly’ tour. Taking in Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and regional Victoria, the ‘Woah Nelly!’ tour will be short, sharp and straight to point. Point being – get there and see two of the most exciting bands to come out of the Melbourne underground scene in a long time.
The Boo Hoo Hoo’s - Updating the sounds of The Beatles, Jeff Buckley and The Strokes with their own brand of simple, no bullshit, guitar pop (‘Whatever the hell that equates to’, Ben admits), the Boo Hoo Hoo’s have become a staple in Melbourne’s live music scene since farewelling the schoolyard. Having played such iconic venues as The Espy, Revolver, and The Old bar, the boys have won over not only the punters, but also industry figureheads who have been quick to get the boys into the studio to lay down some tracks. The result? Songs like ‘B&B’, ‘Stop’ and ‘Into the Wild’, which show a song-writing maturity far beyond the band’s years.
The Ravenous - The Ravenous are a three-piece band from Melbourne’s inner north that play vibing, snazzy, heartfelt, robust, wonder-sounds. Their musical repertoire demonstrates a love for fun without sounding trivial or cheesy. Comparisons have been made to the power-pop of Weezer and the interesting hooks and melodies of Ween and the Flaming Lips.
How can one band be so crazed yet feel so right?! “This is great,” a punter might say, mug of ale in their paw. “Such a warm party-pop flavour! But wait, what’s this? Now it’s time for psychedelic rock?
By Jove, the contrast is rad-maxing me out!”. To be sure, there is much fun to be had at a Ravenous show.
